The Jagannath Temple at Puri in Odisha, is an ancient temple with a history of thousands of years. The present structure was completed in the 12th Century AD and is an imposing shrine occupying an area of around 420, 000 square feet. The main deity is Jagannath which is one of the names of Lord Mahavishnu. He is worshipped with his brother, Badathakura Balabhadra and his sister Devi Subhadra. During the Ratha Yatra, all three deities are taken in giant wooden chariots known as Raths. The deities visit the Mausi Maa Temple and reach the Gundicha Temple. After remaining there for a week, the deities return in a journey known as the Bahuda Yatra. It is considered very auspicious to worship the Lord during this period. There is also a very beautiful Jagannath Temple in Bangalore. It is located on the Ring Road at Agara Junction in HSR Layout and definitely merits a visit to have a darshan of the Lord.
